 Director Vetrimaran Launches the First Look of ‘Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhkku’


The much-anticipated first look of Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhkku was officially launched by acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaran, marking a significant milestone for the team.

The cast and crew of the film met Director Vetrimaran and presented him with the first look, along with select visuals from the film. After watching the clips, he appreciated the efforts, conviction, and sincerity of the entire team and extended his heartfelt wishes for the film’s success. The team expressed their gratitude to him for graciously launching the first look and encouraging the project.


Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhkku is directed by Dayal Padmanabhan, known for his rooted and impactful storytelling. The film is produced by K.V. Sabareesh under the banner of 2M Cinemas, with Dayal Padmanabhan also serving as co-producer under D Pictures.

The ensemble cast includes Vetri, Rangaraj Pandey, Brigida, Lizzie Antony, Saravanan, Lollu Sabha Maaran, Loka Kannan, Narmatha, Kavitha Bharathi, Kaniya Bharathi, Aruvi Madhan along with Suba. Veerapandiyan.

Every region has a few real-life incidents that continue to evoke curiosity, excitement, and a compelling urge to revisit them through research and storytelling. Among such unforgettable events, the murder of a celebrated journalist decades ago,  and the sensational involvement of iconic Tamil cinema personalities, remains one that once shook the entire nation.

Over the years, many creators have attempted to recreate this intriguing chapter through fictional narratives, yet the endeavor remained incomplete. Now, a team of passionate filmmakers has embarked on realizing this long-awaited cinematic vision.

The much-anticipated film ‘Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku’ began its shoot today (November 5) with a traditional pooja ceremony, attended by the cast, crew, and well-wishers from the industry. The film stars Vetri, Rangaraj Pandey, and Brigida in the lead roles.

Produced by K.V. Sabareesh under the banner of 2m Cinemas, the film is written and directed by Dayal Padmanabhan, who also co-produces under his home banner D Pictures. Known for his critically acclaimed and award-winning works across national and international circuits, Dayal Padmanabhan brings his creative finesse to this gripping narrative.



Speaking about the project, Producer K.V. Sabareesh shares, “It’s a project that many have dreamt of making, and I feel privileged to be realizing it now. Dayal Padmanabhan has taken meticulous care in drawing inspiration from the real-life incident while crafting an engaging fictional screenplay. The people and events remain rooted in reality, but presented with cinematic appeal and entertainment value.”


Director & Co-Producer Dayal Padmanabhan adds, “This has been a dream close to my heart for a long time, and I’m delighted that it’s finally taking shape. We commenced shooting today with a pooja ceremony, marking a significant beginning. I’m thankful to producer K.V. Sabareesh for backing this project with such conviction. While we prefer to keep details under wraps for now, audiences can expect a deeply engrossing and surprising experience.”



The film’s ensemble cast also includes Saravanan, Lizia Antony, Lollu Sabha Maran, Ilavarasu, and Kavitha Bharathi, among others.

The technical crew features M.V. Panneerselvam as the cinematographer and Darbuka Siva composing the songs and background score. Anbu heads the production design, Kuppusamy manages make-up, Ramesh designs costumes, and Mariappan serves as production executive. Rekha handles PR responsibilities.



The entire shooting schedule is planned across Chennai and its captivating locales, promising a visual experience as compelling as its subject.

Lock down Nights | Vetri | Hamsini Perumal | Komalaa Naidu

On Friday, music composer and actor Vijay Antony released the title poster of Lockdown Nights, actor Vetri's next. The film is helmed by director SS Stanly. 

The title poster of Lockdown Nights shows a starry nightscape featuring the Malaysian twin towers. A full moon is seen shining bright, right above the film's title. Vinod Sabarish and Subash VS are backing the film under the banners, Too M Cinemas and Arthanas Trading. 

Apart from Vetri, Lockdown Nights also stars Hamsini Perumal, who has previously featured in the TV series Manmadha Bullets, and the film Poochandi

Music composer Justin Prabhakaran is composing music for Lockdown Nights, while Snekan is penning the lyrics for the song. The makers are yet to announce more details about the rest of the cast and crew, as well as, the release date of Lockdown Nights
